Why Choose a Single Ply Roofing System?
Single-ply roof systems are a popular waterproofing solution for either new build or roof refurbishment projects.
We use Sika & similar quality manufacturers's single-ply roof systems classified to BRoofT4, so they can easily satisfy regulatory requirements for fire performance.
They are ideal for buildings with a weight and load-bearing consideration because of the membrane’s structural strength.
Along with BBA accredited durability, Sika single-ply roof systems are quick to install, which makes them a cost-effective solution.
With some of their membranes being as thick as 2.5mm, Sika Sarnafil AT has the flexibility and longevity of a traditional PVC single-ply membrane but is a hyrbid FPO membrane and as the only UK roofing membrane to be certified in Cradle to Cradle, it is their most robust and sustainable single ply solution.
Sika's single ply roof membranes, Sika Sarnafil AT and Sikaplan are an ideal waterproofing solution where the system requires:
- High durability Fire-resistant and fire retardant (All of Sika's single ply membranes have completed Extended Application (EXAP) fire testing)
- Chemical resistant Resistant to UV and natural elements such as harmful microorganisms
Their singly ply membranes are dimensionally stable due to their reinforcement, meaning that they do not shrink or lose their shape.
They are UV resistant and are tested for UV ageing to the highest international standard for waterproofing membranes which requires exposure to 5,000 hours of UV testing.
However, Sika go above and beyond, with their membranes withstanding 10,000 hours of UV exposure
Along with compliance with an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, their membranes have a low environmental impact and when used in conjunction with a high performance thermal insulant can significantly improve the energy performance of a building.
